BlueThrone
Senior Backend Engineer (Golang)
Description
What you'll do
- Architect and evolve backend systems in Golang that support millions of active users - from designing architecture to making sure everything runs smooth at scale.
- Build APIs engineers love - clean, reliable, and intuitive, so the frontend team can move fast without friction.
- Work with complex data flows, caching, and messaging.
- Maintain and extend our existing Node.js services as part of the ongoing migration to Golang.
- Catch performance bottlenecks before users ever notice them.
- Work closely with product, frontend, and data teams - ship fast, iterate faster.
- Bring fresh ideas, constantly push limits, challenge assumptions, and raise the bar for backend engineering.
What you bring
- 5+ years building backend systems at real scale - you’ve seen what works and what breaks when millions of people use a product.
- Strong Golang on the backend. This is your primary stack, and it shows - concurrency, performance, and backend architecture decisions are second nature to you.
- Experience designing scalable architectures and REST APIs other engineers actually want to use.
- Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, and Elasticsearch - comfortable with large datasets, unbothered by a bad query plan.
- Hands-on with Redis and RabbitMQ - you know how to make systems both fast and resilient.
- Confidence around infrastructure: Nginx, Kubernetes, deployment pipelines.
- Node.js experience is a HUGE plus. If you've built and shipped with it, great - you'll be right at home working in our legacy codebase.
- Mobile app experience (iOS or Android) is also a plus.

The role sits in the Technology department, with remote-friendly collaboration across locations.
Requirements
From the 'What you'll bring' section above. Additionally, the role involves ongoing migration from Node.js to Golang and collaborating with product, frontend, and data teams.
