Director of Finance

Evident Change is seeking a part-time Director of Finance to lead the organization’s finance function in support of its mission to use data and research to build more just and equitable social service systems. This role oversees accounting and FP&A operations, financial policies and reporting, and partners with the executive team on strategies aligned to organizational goals.

• Lead Evident Change’s financial strategy and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
• Oversee the full budgeting process, including annual planning, monthly monitoring, and reforecasting.
• Provide timely financial reporting and analysis for leadership decision-making (trends, forecasts, major financial impacts).
• Maintain strong financial operations, including internal controls, policies, procedures, and regulatory compliance.
• Manage key financial relationships and processes, including banking partners, outsourced accounting, and the annual audit.
• Oversee financial performance management, including dashboards/metrics, departmental reviews, and coordination with finance staff and executives.

• Minimum 10 years of relevant financial and business operations experience, including at least 5 years in a nonprofit organization.
• 5–10 years of management and leadership experience, including final responsibility for financial data quality/content, reporting, and audit coordination for a division or significant program area.
• Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field (required).
• Strong prioritization, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills to support sound decision-making.
• Ability to translate financial concepts and collaborate effectively with non-finance colleagues.
• Experience supervising and coaching employees; ability to select, develop, motivate, mentor, and retain high-performing staff.
• Preferred: CPA, CMA, or MBA.
• Desired: experience evaluating, selecting, and implementing financial systems.
• Strongly preferred: nonprofit financial accounting experience.

• Status: Part time; 30 hours per week (three-quarter-time).
• Location: Remote; work from anywhere within the United States.
• Compensation: national average range $97,500–$119,000 per year (dependent on experience, parity, and location).
