AI Merchandising
UX/UI Designer
Summary
AI Merchandising is seeking a UX/UI Designer to craft intuitive experiences for their AI-driven merchandising platform. The role focuses on translating complex generative-AI capabilities into clear, user-friendly workflows that help brands design, test, and launch products faster. You will own the complete design process from discovery through post-launch iteration, working closely with Product, Engineering, and ML teams.
What you'll do
- Product & User Experience Strategy: Translate product vision and research insights into intuitive user experiences; define user journeys, personas, and problem statements; balance business goals, technical constraints, and user needs.
- UX Design & Interaction Modeling: Create flows, wireframes, and prototypes that simplify complex AI-driven functionality; design for edge cases, empty states, and error recovery; validate ideas through usability testing.
- UI Design & Design System Ownership: Deliver production-ready UI aligned with brand and accessibility standards; build and maintain a scalable design system; ensure visual consistency across product surfaces.
- AI/ML Experience Design: Design interfaces that communicate AI behavior clearly; create human-AI collaboration workflows; optimize for trust, transparency, and reduced cognitive load.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with Product and Engineering to shape requirements; participate in sprint planning and reviews; present design decisions backed by research and data.
- Research & Validation: Plan and conduct usability testing and interviews; translate insights into actionable improvements; monitor behavior and adoption through analytics.
- Prototyping & Experimentation: Build interactive prototypes for testing; support A/B testing with clear hypotheses; measure UX success through usability metrics.
- Documentation & Design Communication: Maintain clear design documentation in Notion/Confluence; produce specs and interaction guidelines; ensure a single source of truth for UX patterns.
- Quality & Implementation Support: Partner with developers during implementation; review builds and validate edge cases; refine based on production feedback.
- Accessibility & Responsible Design: Embed accessibility (WCAG principles) into all design decisions; design responsibly for AI use cases with bias awareness and transparency.
Requirements
- Experience: 4+ years designing UX/UI for digital products (SaaS, AI-driven platforms, or data-heavy applications)
- Portfolio: Proven end-to-end design delivery with demonstrated systems thinking, usability, and measurable product impact
- Tools Mastery: Advanced proficiency in Figma (components, auto-layout, design systems, prototyping); FigJam/Miro for workshops and ideation
- Collaboration: Experience collaborating with product managers, engineers, and ML/data teams; familiarity with Agile/Scrum workflows and Jira/Linear/Trello
- UX Methods: Strong understanding of user-centered design, accessibility (WCAG), and responsive design principles; user journeys, service blueprints, usability testing
- Technical Awareness: Ability to interpret product specs, APIs, and technical constraints; understanding of front-end basics (HTML/CSS/React helpful)
- AI/ML Design: Experience designing for AI workflows (human-in-the-loop, confidence states, explainability) is a strong plus
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communicator; ability to explain design rationale and produce clear async documentation
- Data-Informed Design: Familiarity with analytics tools and ability to interpret metrics and translate them into UX improvements
