Summary
Hertha Metals, Inc. is scaling a novel, lower-emissions steelmaking process from pilot operations to commercial deployment. The HR Generalist will report to the Director of Human Resources and support growth by leading full-cycle recruiting and core HR functions. The role focuses on building technical and industrial teams while maintaining a safe, compliant, and efficient workplace.
What you'll do
- Support full-cycle recruitment for engineering, operations, and industrial roles by coordinating candidate pipelines, interviews, and hiring logistics
- Partner with hiring managers and leadership to develop and execute recruiting strategies aligned with growth objectives
- Manage onboarding to ensure a seamless and positive new-hire experience
- Maintain accurate HR documentation including employee records, compliance reports, and onboarding materials
- Support employee engagement, retention, and workplace culture initiatives
- Ensure adherence to HR policies, procedures, and legal compliance standards
- Assist in developing and implementing HR best practices to support scalability and operational efficiency
- Handle employee inquiries and provide HR guidance with professionalism and confidentiality
- Contribute to continuous improvement of HR processes and tools to enhance productivity
Requirements
- 2–5+ years of experience in HR, People Operations, or a related field
- Experience supporting full-cycle recruiting, especially for technical, engineering, or industrial roles
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
- Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS) and HRIS platforms
- Strong understanding of HR fundamentals including onboarding, compliance, and employee documentation
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills with strong attention to detail
- Strong communication skills to engage candidates, employees, and leadership
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism
- Preferred: experience in fast-paced startup, industrial, or innovative environments
- Preferred: proven ability to build, lead, and mentor multidisciplinary teams
