Director of People Operations
Summary
Nema Health is a survivor- and clinician-led virtual treatment program for PTSD and trauma, focused on expanding access to evidence-based, patient-centered care. The Director of People Operations will be the first dedicated People leader, building scalable recruiting and people systems to support a growing ~35-person team. Reporting to the COO, this role will establish world-class talent acquisition and employee experience foundations as the company scales.
What you'll do
- Own end-to-end talent acquisition strategy and execution, with emphasis on clinician and operations hiring.
- Design and continuously improve onboarding and new hire experience, including 30/60/90-day frameworks.
- Optimize and administer people tools and systems (e.g., ATS, HRIS, onboarding platforms) and create repeatable processes.
- Create documentation, templates, and playbooks to standardize recruiting and people operations.
- Build feedback mechanisms to monitor employee satisfaction and translate insights into improvements.
- Develop lightweight growth and performance feedback processes that support development and accountability.
- Partner with leadership on headcount planning, hiring prioritization, and organizational strategy.
- Develop sourcing strategies, screening processes, and pipeline management for early-stage clinician recruitment.
- Design and launch recruiting analytics dashboards (e.g., efficiency, time-to-hire, candidate quality, candidate experience).
- Implement scalable interview frameworks, standardized scorecards, and streamlined workflows to reduce time-to-hire.
- Strengthen employer brand and market visibility to improve pipeline strength and offer acceptance.
- Enable managers with training, resources, and coaching to improve people leadership capabilities.
- Embed inclusive and equitable practices across the employee lifecycle.
- Design programs that strengthen culture, connection, and engagement as the organization scales.
Requirements
5+ years of experience in Talent Acquisition, Recruiting, or People Operations, including at least 2 years at a healthcare delivery or clinical services startup.
Proven track record building or managing full-cycle recruiting processes, including successfully hiring clinician and/or operations roles.
Experience building or significantly improving onboarding programs and candidate experience systems.
Comfort with modern People tools and systems (ATS, HRIS, onboarding platforms).
Strong empathy, emotional intelligence, and relationship-building skills.
Proactive problem-solver who thrives in fast-moving, ambiguous environments.
Interest in growing into broader People leadership over time.

Conditions
Salary: $140,000–$175,000 base (dependent on experience, skills, and market considerations).
