Summary
ZeroAvia is seeking a Senior Thermal Engineer to lead the development of thermal management systems for innovative fuel cell powerplants. This role encompasses all aspects of system development from design through manufacturing, with a focus on delivering zero-emission aviation solutions.
What you'll do
- Lead all aspects of thermal management system development from design to manufacture, including requirements capture, system analysis, prototyping and testing
- Develop thermal management solutions for fuel cell systems with full balance of plants integration
- Lead thermal management system concept generation through system architecture and design substantiation
- Analyse thermal management systems and define lower level functional and performance requirements
- Work with internal teams and supply chain on delivery of thermal equipment such as heat exchangers, pumps, valves and instrumentation
- Determine strategies for component level engineering evaluation testing and commissioning of test rigs
- Host, participate and present in internal and external design and project reviews
- Liaise closely with stakeholders to ensure efficient implementation of thermal solutions
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in an appropriate engineering discipline
- First hand knowledge of implementing innovative thermal management solutions
- Experience with MATLAB Simulink/Simscape or similar 1D thermo-fluid software
- Experience with commercial CFD codes such as Ansys Fluent/CFX
- Proficiency in CAD software including Siemens NX or Solidworks with 3D modelling and surface modelling capability
- Use of Teamcenter PLM or similar PLM systems
- Knowledge of heat exchangers, pipework, pumps, valves and sensors
- Knowledgeable in experimental methods for thermodynamic and aerodynamic assessment
- Experience developing test instrumentation and data acquisition systems, with LabVIEW knowledge a plus
- Knowledge of materials, finishes and additive manufacturing processes
- Commensurate depth of aerospace industry experience
- Strong interpersonal skills and excellent spoken and written English
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multinational team
- Prior knowledge of H2 fuel cell and/or electric powertrain liquid cooling systems a plus
- Experience with high voltage enclosures and power electronics thermal management a plus
