People & Culture Specialist
Summary
The Walt Disney Company is hiring a People & Culture Specialist to support HR operational excellence across multiple functions and partner closely with People & Culture business partners and employees. The role focuses on HR policy/process administration, position and headcount management, and coordination of talent and employee lifecycle activities. It also leverages strong analytical skills for reporting, audits, and maintaining accurate employee and organizational data.
What you'll do
Advise and provide guidance on administering HR policies and procedures.
Support position management in partnership with People & Culture Business Partners, Global HR Operations (GHRO), and organizational management teams.
Manage organizational charts and headcount reporting.
Administer employee events and development offerings (e.g., lunch & learns, townhalls, welcome lunches, speaker series).
Provide leaders and business partners with information supporting talent solutions, career development resources, learning opportunities, and job description development for recruitment.
Document, maintain, and organize practices and protocols related to HR data, policy administration, and standards.
Coordinate talent exercises and provide status reporting and summaries for initiatives (e.g., promotions, calibrations, headcount, compensation planning, succession planning).
Collect, organize, update, and maintain large datasets for leadership reporting and presentations.
Conduct ongoing reporting, analysis, and auditing of employee data; perform data clean-up as needed.
Create reports and presentations communicating research/project findings to leaders and partners.
Support onboarding activities and onboarding plan strategy in partnership with GHRO.
Coordinate offboarding activities, including support on sensitive separations, in partnership with GHRO and leadership.
Build and maintain relationships across the client group and cross-functional People & Culture partners.
Support and participate in People & Culture projects.
Requirements
Minimum 1 year of professional experience in an HR, journalism, data management, communication, or media role.
Experience with an HRIS such as Workday and/or SAP.
Experience with or working knowledge of HR systems, policies, and processes.
Strong attention to detail and ability to understand downstream impacts of system changes.
Business orientation and acumen; understanding of TV/News/Networks dynamics.
Strong organizational skills, follow-through, and ability to balance priorities while managing project work.
Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate at all organizational levels.
Strong service orientation and effective partnering skills with HR teams and business stakeholders.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, highly ambiguous environment; adaptable problem-solver.
Proactive, action-oriented, intellectually curious, quick learner; seeks process improvements.
Ability to handle confidential information with sound judgment and decision-making.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Business Management, Human Resources, Communication, Journalism, Media, or related field.
Preferred: Advanced Excel and/or PowerPoint skills.
Preferred: Experience with cloud-based systems such as SmartSheet.
Conditions
Location-based hiring range specified for Burbank, California.
Compensation includes annual base pay range with potential bonus and/or long-term incentive units.
