Human Agency

Chief of Staff to the Founder

Remote Lead $7.9k–$15.6k/moest.

Summary

Human Agency is a rapidly scaling, mission-driven consultancy partnering with organizations to explore, design, and implement secure, scalable, human-centered AI strategies. The Chief of Staff to the Founder will act as a force multiplier for the founder, translating vision into executable plans and building internal systems so leadership can operate effectively as the company grows.

What you'll do

  • Partner with the founder to translate priorities and strategic vision into sequenced plans with owners, timelines, and success metrics.
  • Own end-to-end execution of founder-level special projects and organizational initiatives from scoping through delivery and measurement.
  • Maintain accountability across the founder’s portfolio; proactively identify conflicts, dependencies, and risks.
  • Create executive-ready materials (strategy briefs, decision memos, board materials, organizational roadmaps) to drive alignment and decisions.
  • Pressure-test ideas, surface options and trade-offs, and ensure initiatives align with strategy and capacity.
  • Build and improve operating systems for scaling (hiring infrastructure, resource allocation, capacity planning, cross-functional coordination).
  • Design and implement hiring systems (interview frameworks, evaluation rubrics, onboarding) to support growth targets.
  • Own organization-wide resource allocation and capacity planning to keep teams aligned and sustainable.
  • Establish operating rhythms (meeting cadences, decision frameworks, communication protocols, reporting).
  • Identify operational bottlenecks and implement solutions to increase velocity while maintaining quality.
  • Orchestrate complex cross-functional initiatives; act as a neutral coordinator across departments.
  • Represent the founder’s office in key discussions to ensure priorities are understood.
  • Drive crisp internal communication on strategy, priorities, and decisions; translate founder thinking into actionable guidance.
  • Prepare the founder for key meetings with context, background materials, and talking points.
  • Maintain visibility into organizational health metrics and key initiatives; surface issues and opportunities.
  • Potentially lead initiatives such as AI transformations for clients, fundraising, investment fund management, client delivery, sales, recruiting, GTM, and analytics value creation, depending on organizational needs and strengths.

Requirements

  • 5–7+ years of experience in high-performing environments (e.g., Chief of Staff, strategic operations, management consulting, VC/PE, business development, or startup leadership).
  • Proven ability to take ambiguous, complex initiatives and drive them to completion.
  • Strong systems thinking and process design; ability to build scalable infrastructure, not just execute tasks.
  • Exceptional project management and coordination across multiple concurrent workstreams.
  • High proficiency with collaboration tools (Google Workspace, Asana/Notion, Slack) and comfort with AI-powered productivity tools.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication; ability to synthesize complex information into clear briefs for varied audiences.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (advanced degree a plus).
  • Bonus: Experience in high-growth startups, venture studios, or AI/tech; background in talent operations/organizational design; success in B2B business development; exposure to board-level strategy and operations.
  • Mindset: mission-driven, high agency, calm under pressure, strong judgment, ego-free collaboration, learning agility, and comfort operating in ambiguity.
  • Commitment to ethical practices and responsible business operations.

Conditions

  • Location: Remote-friendly; candidates must be based in the US or Canada, with preference for major tech hubs and strong preference for overlap with EST business hours.
  • Work type: US applicants are Full-Time; Canadian applicants are Independent Contractors.
  • Travel: Occasional travel expected (10–25%) for offsites, key events, and leadership meetings.
  • Compensation: Competitive base salary with performance-based bonuses and potential equity participation (amount not specified).
