Social Video Editor (Part-time)
Summary
Her Campus Media is a Gen Z media and marketing ecosystem with a portfolio of youth-focused brands including Her Campus, Spoon University, and College Fashionista. The Social Video Editor (Part-time) will edit social-first, vertical short-form videos to support these brands and optimize content performance across platforms.
What you'll do
Edit engaging social-first video content using mobile tools (e.g., CapCut, Prequel, Edits, Canva) from original and sourced footage.
Apply strong editorial judgment to craft punchy narratives and select key moments for snackable social cutdowns.
Make creative decisions on framing, cutaways, zooms, sound effects, captions, and text overlays to enhance storytelling.
Optimize edits for each target platform and format.
Escalate more premium/heavier edits to Adobe Premiere Pro when needed.
Maintain an end-to-end workflow from rough cut to final deliverables, including archiving/organizing footage and tracking licensed content usage.
Manage a video production calendar in Asana to track status and go-live timing.
Perform quality control to ensure high-quality deliverables for publication.
Monitor social trends and app developments and incorporate relevant trends into video concepts.
Identify opportunities to reuse and repurpose existing editorial video content.
Requirements
1+ years of experience in short-form video editing.
Proficiency with mobile video editing tools (e.g., CapCut, Prequel, Edits, Canva).
Intermediate knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro.
Basic understanding of color correction, audio mixing, motion design, and multi-cam editing.
Strong understanding of what makes vertical/social video effective and watchable.
Ability to work quickly, switch priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
Collaborative mindset and comfort working cross-functionally.
Experience in a digital media organization and/or prior social media experience (both plus).
Ability to work 20 hours per week.
Portfolio links/examples of prior social video work required in application.
Must be eligible to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship available.
Conditions
Part-time: 20 hours per week.
Schedule: 3–4 set shifts per week.
Remote role within the United States.
Pay range: $26–$29 per hour.
