The Director, Human Resources leads the strategic vision and day-to-day execution of HR across the organization, aligning people initiatives with business goals and regulatory requirements. The role builds a consistent, accountable, performance-focused culture while supporting growth and seasonal demand.
What you'll do
- Lead enterprise-wide HR initiatives such as succession planning and leadership development.
- Analyze workforce trends, HR metrics, and reporting to enable data-driven decision-making.
- Partner with executive leadership on long-term human capital strategy, organizational design, change management, and scalability planning.
- Maintain and update the employee handbook, HR policies, and procedures; ensure alignment with culture and legal compliance.
- Lead HR audits and risk mitigation in partnership with legal and compliance teams.
- Oversee daily HR operations to ensure consistent application of policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including wage and hour rules, OSHA and DOT standards, and employment eligibility requirements.
- Direct end-to-end recruitment with emphasis on high-volume roles in logistics, transportation, and warehousing.
- Oversee workforce planning and staffing models aligned to operational demand, budgets, and headcount strategy.
- Lead employee relations, including investigations, disciplinary actions, conflict resolution, and leader coaching.
- Oversee performance management frameworks, accountability practices, and career progression/succession strategies.
- Develop and implement training initiatives for compliance, skill development, and leadership growth.
- Oversee compensation strategy, incentive plans, and benefits administration; monitor market trends for competitive and equitable total rewards.
- Partner with finance and operations on merit cycles, incentive planning, and workforce budgeting.
- Provide leadership and oversight of the HR Manager and administrative HR staff.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
- Master’s degree and/or HR certification (e.g., SHRM-SCP or SPHR) preferred.
- 8–10 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
- Proven ability to balance strategic HR planning with hands-on execution in a fast-paced, multi-site organization.
- Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and compliance requirements.
- Experience managing HR operations across multi-site or geographically dispersed environments.
- Strong business acumen; ability to align HR initiatives to operational and financial objectives.
- Proficiency with HRIS platforms and workforce data reporting tools; strong capability in HR metrics and analytics.
- Expertise in organizational development and leading change initiatives.
- Strong communication, influencing, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Demonstrated cultural competency and commitment to an inclusive, respectful workplace.
- Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred.
Conditions
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM; availability to work extra hours, weekends, and holidays preferred.
- Travel: Up to 10% on occasion.
- Compensation: Up to $110,000 salaried (dependent upon experience level).
