User Researcher - Personalization
Summary
Spotify is hiring a User Researcher to join the Personalization Design team, which builds personalized and AI-driven audio experiences such as Discover Weekly, AI DJ, and Prompted Playlist. The role leads survey-driven and qualitative research to inform feature development, experimentation, and ongoing measurement across personalization experiences.
What you'll do
- Identify and prioritize research questions with Product, Design, and Engineering partners.
- Design and run studies and research programs that fit real-world product and team constraints.
- Execute quantitative research with strong emphasis on survey design, experimentation, and perception measurement.
- Conduct qualitative research (e.g., concept testing, usability testing, semi-structured interviews, diary studies) to iteratively guide feature development.
- Translate qualitative insights into testable hypotheses and measurable research frameworks.
- Design surveys that accurately measure user perception and experience.
- Develop scalable and repeatable survey frameworks that support A/B testing, pre/post analysis, and continuous sentiment tracking.
- Synthesize and communicate findings to diverse audiences to influence decision-making.
- Serve as a trusted research partner to cross-functional collaborators and work with senior researchers on complex initiatives.
Requirements
3+ years of applied user research experience.
Degree in Psychology, HCI, Human Factors, Social Sciences, or a related field.
Strong experience in quantitative UXR methods including survey design, experimentation, and statistical analysis.
Working proficiency across qualitative research methods.
Fluency in experimentation and A/B testing environments, integrating quantitative data with qualitative insights.
Ability to independently scope, conduct, analyze, and communicate research.
Clear communication with product managers, designers, engineers, and leadership; ability to translate complex findings into practical direction.
AI proficiency, including experience integrating AI tools into research workflows and evaluating AI within product experiences.
Conditions
Flexible location within the North Americas region (must be within a supported work location).
Collaboration primarily within the Eastern Standard Time zone.
Compensation includes base salary range plus equity.
