Summary
Gerber Collision & Glass is a large North American collision repair company seeking an HR Operations Specialist to support standardized HR operations across Canada and the U.S. The role serves as the first point of contact for employee HR inquiries and executes accurate, timely HR transactions and reporting in Workday and related systems.
What you'll do
- Manage incoming employee and manager inquiries related to HR policies, processes, and transactions; provide guidance on self-service and Workday navigation.
- Deliver HR administration and transactional support in alignment with established standards, procedures, and service level agreements (SLAs).
- Escalate complex issues through a formalized HR Operations escalation process; respond or redirect inquiries spanning personal/job data, absence, time & attendance, benefits, employment verification, performance management, and learning/training.
- Stay current on HR policy and process changes and use reference materials to ensure accurate responses.
- Proactively review processes for efficiency; contribute to improvements, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and best practices with HR Operations leads.
- Enter, retrieve, and correct data in Workday and other systems; follow up on missing/insufficient data and errors.
- Provide support across Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards (compensation/benefits), and Time & Absence, including new hire transactions, benefit inquiries, disability administration, employee records, terminations, outplacement steps, exit interviews, and notifications.
- Submit job catalog/job profile updates to HRIS based on compensation team inputs; process employment data updates such as hires, terminations, promotions, transfers, department/role/location changes, and geo differential assignments.
- Support TA transactions such as application tracking, background checks, and preparing offer letter materials as needed.
- Prepare standardized employee letters (e.g., retirement, resignation, promotions, absence management).
- Run, audit, and monitor standardized and ad hoc reports (e.g., vacation carryover, excessive overtime, geo differential) and coordinate report updates with stakeholders.
- Administer HR Shared Services activities including email/telephony/chat handling, correspondence, inquiry logging, record maintenance, and weekly status reporting on open tickets and service requests.
Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or equivalent.
- 3–5 years of experience in HR operations and/or other HR functional areas.
- Working understanding of HR principles, practices, procedures, and HR policies across HR streams (Canada and U.S.).
- Knowledge of cloud-based HCM systems; Workday navigation, business processes, and report generation (2+ years Workday experience preferred).
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite and/or Google Suite.
- Strong confidentiality handling for personnel matters and documents.
- Service excellence and positive interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively and one-to-one.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, time management, and independent judgment.
- Ability to perform in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
- Minimal travel may be required.

- Compensation: expected pay range $23–$28 per hour (commensurate with skills, education, and experience).
