Summary
Aston Carter is seeking a Bereavement HR Assistant to review, validate, and manage bereavement claims with accuracy, professionalism, and empathy. The role focuses on end-to-end case investigation and coordination with employees, funeral/mortuary providers, and internal teams to ensure claim integrity and SLA compliance.
What you'll do
- Conduct deep-dive investigations into bereavement claims to confirm accuracy and compliance.
- Hold seek-to-understand conversations and interviews with employees during investigations.
- Manage an average caseload of ~25 cases per week (~5 per day after ramp-up).
- Own cases end-to-end, ensuring timely follow-up, documentation, and resolution.
- Meet the current SLA of closing cases within 10 business days.
- Verify information by engaging professionally with mortuary and funeral service providers.
- Handle inbound and outbound calls with employees, providers, and stakeholders using established communication systems.
- Partner with Worldwide Operations Security on claim integrity and site-related escalations.
- Coordinate with My HR Live Support for initial frontline conversations before case transition.
- Complete a structured 5-week training, nesting, and ramp period to reach full productivity.
Requirements
- Professionalism and tact when conducting employee interviews; ability to remain respectful and objective.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage all aspects of a case independently.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Curiosity and a seek-to-understand mindset.
- Experience in Human Resources, investigations, loss prevention, or similar analytical roles.
- Strong reading comprehension, writing, analytical, and critical-thinking skills.
- Ability to navigate multiple systems and tools simultaneously.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Microsoft 365.
- Preferred: prior investigative experience (HR, security, loss prevention, compliance) and experience handling sensitive/confidential information.
- Preferred: familiarity with high-volume case management environments.
Conditions
- Contract role.
- Workplace type: 100% remote (United States).
- Schedule: Monday–Friday during standard business hours aligned to the candidate’s time zone; typical start 7:00–9:00 AM and end 4:00–6:00 PM.
- Pay: $23.00/hour.
- Training: structured 5-week training/nesting/ramp period.
