Social Video Editor (Part-time)

Summary

Her Campus Media is a Gen Z-focused media and marketing ecosystem with a portfolio of major youth brands and creator communities. The part-time Social Video Editor will create and optimize social-first video edits for brands like Her Campus, Spoon University, and College Fashionista to drive engaging, platform-native content performance.

What you'll do

  • Edit social-first videos using mobile tools (e.g., CapCut, Prequel, Edits, Canva) from original and sourced footage.

  • Apply strong editorial judgment to build engaging narratives and select key moments for punchy social cutdowns.

  • Make creative decisions on framing, cutaways, zooms, sound effects, captions, and on-screen text.

  • Optimize edits for the intended platform and format (with emphasis on vertical video performance).

  • Redirect heavier/premium edits to Adobe Premiere Pro when needed.

  • Set and maintain a video workflow from rough cut to final delivery, including archiving/organizing footage and tracking licensed content use.

  • Maintain a production calendar in Asana and track deliverable status through publication.

  • Perform quality control to ensure high-quality deliverables.

  • Monitor social trends and app developments and incorporate them into concepts when appropriate.

  • Identify opportunities to reuse and repurpose existing editorial video content.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of short-form video editing experience.

  • Proficiency with mobile video editing tools (CapCut, Prequel, Edits, Canva, or similar).

  • Intermediate proficiency with Adobe Premiere Pro.

  • Basic understanding of color correction, audio mixing, motion design, and multi-cam editing.

  • Strong understanding of what makes social video effective and watchable; solid social news/editorial judgment.

  • Ability to work quickly, shift priorities, and meet tight deadlines.

  • Collaborative and comfortable working cross-functionally.

  • Experience at a digital media organization (plus).

  • Previous social media experience (plus).

  • Ability to work 20 hours per week.

  • Include a portfolio link or examples of previous social video work in the application.

Conditions

  • Part-time, remote role (within the United States).

  • Schedule: 3–4 set shifts per week, totaling 20 hours per week.

  • Pay range: $26–$29 per hour.

  • Must be eligible to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship.
