Summary
Aston Carter (promoted via Lensa) is hiring a Bereavement HR Assistant to review, validate, and manage bereavement claims with accuracy, professionalism, and empathy. The role partners with internal teams and external mortuary/funeral providers to ensure claim integrity and timely resolution within established SLAs.
What you'll do
- Conduct deep-dive investigations into bereavement claims to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Hold seek-to-understand conversations with employees as part of investigations.
- Manage a weekly caseload (approximately 25 cases per week; ~5 per day once ramped).
- Own cases end-to-end, ensuring follow-up and resolution.
- Meet the team SLA of closing cases within 10 business days.
- Engage professionally with mortuary and funeral service sites to verify information.
- Handle inbound and outbound calls with employees, providers, and stakeholders using established communication systems.
- Partner with Worldwide Operations Security on claim integrity and site-related escalations.
- Coordinate with the My HR Live Support team during case intake/transition.
- Complete a structured 5-week training, nesting, and ramp period to reach full productivity.
Requirements
- Professionalism and tact in conducting employee interviews with respectful, objective communication.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage all aspects of a case independently.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Curiosity and a “seek to understand” mindset.
- Experience in Human Resources, investigations, loss prevention, or similar analytical roles.
- Strong reading comprehension, writing, and analytical abilities.
- Critical thinking and deep-dive problem-solving skills.
- Ability to navigate multiple systems and tools simultaneously.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Microsoft 365.
- Nice to have: prior investigative experience (HR, security, loss prevention, compliance); experience handling sensitive/confidential information; familiarity with high-volume case management.
Conditions
- Schedule: Monday–Friday during standard business hours aligned to candidate’s time zone (typically start 7:00–9:00 AM; end 4:00–6:00 PM).
- Workplace: 100% remote (U.S.-based).
- Job type: Contract.
- Pay: $23/hour.
- Training: structured 5-week training/nesting/ramp period.
