Designer
Summary
Design Observer is seeking a Designer to help bring sophisticated brands to life through concept-to-execution work across multiple mediums. This hybrid role is based out of the Brooklyn (NYC) or Palo Alto office and involves collaborating closely with Art Directors and Creative Directors while owning portions of projects independently.
What you'll do
Design and execute brand identity systems, editorial layouts, decks, and digital applications.
Support brand concept development and visual exploration under the guidance of Art Directors and Creative Directors.
Translate strategy into thoughtful design across print, digital, and environmental touchpoints.
Prepare presentation-ready work that communicates ideas clearly and beautifully.
Create production-ready files with strong attention to detail and quality.
Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure consistency and excellence.
Participate in critiques, reviews, and creative discussions with openness and curiosity.
Maintain organized files, version control, and production standards across projects.
Requirements
3–5 years of experience at a design studio or in-house creative team (ideally luxury, hospitality, lifestyle, or cultural sectors).
Strong design fundamentals (typography, composition, visual hierarchy).
Ability to take direction and contribute ideas and visual perspective.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and timelines while maintaining high craft quality.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and Figma.
Interest in both digital and tactile design (print, materials, texture, physical applications).
Detail-oriented, thoughtful, self-motivated, and quality-focused.
Plus: basic to intermediate motion/animation familiarity; openness to emerging tools including generative AI.
Bonus: experience in hospitality/real estate/lifestyle branding; long-form documents/editorial systems; After Effects/Premiere; writing/naming/editorial storytelling; print production or working with fabricators/vendors.
