Summary
US Company is seeking a Senior Data Engineer for an interesting distributed team project. The role involves building and operating production data pipelines for a complex SaaS platform serving high-risk industries including oil & gas, chemical, and energy sectors with focus on Safety, Sustainability, and Productivity.
What you'll do
- Build and operate production data pipelines for product, analytics, and AI
- Integrate internal and external data sources with strong quality, reliability, and SLAs
- Maintain and improve the data warehouse focusing on performance and cost optimization
- Model curated datasets and semantic layers and implement transformations as code using dbt or similar tools
- Ensure observability and operational readiness through tests, freshness checks, and runbooks
- Support embedded Power BI in production including monitoring, incident management, and improvements
- Partner with stakeholders and AI/ML teams to keep data current and clarify requirements
Requirements
Must-Have:
- 5+ years in data engineering, data platform, or analytics engineering roles
- Strong SQL and experience with relational databases and analytical warehouses/lakehouses
- Proficiency in Python or equivalent for data processing, automation, and APIs
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure) and cloud-native data services
- Production experience with workflow orchestration (Airflow, dbt, or similar)
- Solid data modeling skills including dimensional modeling and star schema
- Strong software engineering habits: Git, CI/CD, automated testing, readable and maintainable code
- Clear English communication and comfort explaining technical tradeoffs to non-experts
- BI enablement experience: Power BI, Tableau, or Looker
Big Plus:
- Experience with Snowflake, Databricks, or BigQuery
- Infrastructure-as-code: Terraform
- Docker experience
- Experience using AI coding assistants (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code)
- Familiarity with GenAI, LLM, and machine learning fundamentals
Conditions
Work Arrangement: Distributed remote team with CET business hours, full-time (40 hours per week)
