Senior Data Engineer

US Company is seeking a Senior Data Engineer for an interesting distributed team project. The role involves building and operating production data pipelines for a complex SaaS platform serving high-risk industries including oil & gas, chemical, and energy sectors with focus on Safety, Sustainability, and Productivity.

• Build and operate production data pipelines for product, analytics, and AI
• Integrate internal and external data sources with strong quality, reliability, and SLAs
• Maintain and improve the data warehouse focusing on performance and cost optimization
• Model curated datasets and semantic layers and implement transformations as code using dbt or similar tools
• Ensure observability and operational readiness through tests, freshness checks, and runbooks
• Support embedded Power BI in production including monitoring, incident management, and improvements
• Partner with stakeholders and AI/ML teams to keep data current and clarify requirements

Must-Have:

• 5+ years in data engineering, data platform, or analytics engineering roles
• Strong SQL and experience with relational databases and analytical warehouses/lakehouses
• Proficiency in Python or equivalent for data processing, automation, and APIs
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure) and cloud-native data services
• Production experience with workflow orchestration (Airflow, dbt, or similar)
• Solid data modeling skills including dimensional modeling and star schema
• Strong software engineering habits: Git, CI/CD, automated testing, readable and maintainable code
• Clear English communication and comfort explaining technical tradeoffs to non-experts
• BI enablement experience: Power BI, Tableau, or Looker

Big Plus:

• Experience with Snowflake, Databricks, or BigQuery
• Infrastructure-as-code: Terraform
• Docker experience
• Experience using AI coding assistants (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code)
• Familiarity with GenAI, LLM, and machine learning fundamentals

Work Arrangement: Distributed remote team with CET business hours, full-time (40 hours per week)
