Summary
PLANEKS is hiring a Senior Front End Engineer (React) to work on transforming the hospitality industry with innovative solutions that optimize operations and drive profitability. The role involves building and shipping production-ready React/Next.js applications with a strong focus on UI polish, design accuracy, and product ownership.
What you'll do
Day-to-day:
- Build and ship front-end features in React/Next.js/TypeScript
- Translate Figma designs into polished, production-ready UI with attention to visual details
Ongoing:
- Build reusable components that become the team's shared vocabulary
- Write clean, exemplary front-end code that others follow
- Identify UI inconsistencies and fix them proactively
- Push work to high standards before QA review
Over time:
- Establish front-end patterns and conventions for team consistency
- Contribute to a component library to accelerate development
- Help other developers level up front-end skills through code reviews
Requirements
Required Hard Skills:
- 5+ years building production web applications with React and TypeScript
- Strong product/UI sensibility with attention to spacing, visual hierarchy, typography, and interaction details
- Experience with Next.js and advanced CSS
- Ability to build real interaction patterns: transitions, loading states, empty states, error states, skeleton screens
- Can translate Figma designs accurately with good judgment on missing details
- Performance awareness: bundle size, rendering costs, lazy loading, optimization timing
- MUI (Material UI) theming, component composition, and customization
- TanStack Query or similar async state management
- Formik or equivalent form library
- Docker fundamentals and container-based workflows
- CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions)
Required Soft Skills:
- Ownership mentality and responsibility for user experience
- High standards for polish before QA submission
- Ability to identify and suggest fixes for awkward flows and interactions
- Proactive about UI inconsistencies
- Writes clean, well-structured, educational code
- Collaborates closely with designers to clarify UX details
- Understands design systems and component reusability
- Documents conventions and establishes patterns
- Provides constructive code reviews
Nice to Have:
- Accessibility awareness (ARIA patterns, keyboard navigation, screen reader basics)
- Animation proficiency and understanding of easing and timing
- Backend comfort with Python/Django
- Experience with data-heavy SaaS (tables, filters, dashboards, complex statuses)
- Component library or design system contribution experience
- Ability to have significant overlap with EST hours

- Remote: 100% remote work with flexitime between 8:00-20:00 (EST timezone overlap is advantageous)
