Summary
The San Diego Padres are hiring a Manager, Event A/V Operations to oversee audio, video, and control room operations for Petco Park events and productions. The role leads live event technical execution across videoboards, LED ribbons, audio systems, and routing feeds while directing part-time crews and supporting internal and client A/V needs.
What you'll do
- Oversee Event A/V control room operations for Petco Park and Gallagher Square shows/concerts; serve as Technical Director as needed for videoboards, LED ribbon boards, and ballpark TV routing feeds.
- Plan and set up event production and stage shows; act as technical/content lead and TD for events, live shows, webcasts, and Padres games as needed.
- On event days, coordinate directly with Petco Park Events and clients to pre-load graphics, videos, and other A/V elements.
- Manage various Petco Park events (e.g., high school baseball, member batting practices, corporate events).
- Execute internal A/V requests for the Auditorium, Clubs & Suites, including corporate meetings.
- Collaborate with and provide instruction to part-time audio crew for events.
- Operate Ross Acuity multi-ME switcher and understand/operate associated live production systems (Ross Xpression, Dashboard, Evertz Dreamcatcher, routers, processors, multiviewers, playback, audio, and LED stadium lighting cues).
- Load and operate Daktronics show control for LED ribbons and event production.
- Edit/convert/customize content for playback using Adobe Premiere and After Effects.
- Operate third-party vendor software for social activations (fan polls, social media display, app interface).
- Partner with event production, engineering, game presentation, video production, scoreboard operations, and entertainment teams to deliver high-quality productions.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director, Event Production & Video Engineering.
Requirements
- At least 18 years of age by start of employment.
- 4-year Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 4 years of A/V experience as an event production manager or technician in an entertainment facility or television station.
- Advanced knowledge of Ross Acuity switcher, Ross Xpression, Evertz Dreamcatcher, and live production equipment (e.g., Evertz routers and audio systems).
- Intermediate experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, After Effects) for editing.
- High proficiency with multiple file types and conversion codecs for control room content execution.
- Prior experience managing part-time staff and control room positions.
- Understanding of event production, live sports broadcasting, and knowledge of baseball/Padres organization.
- Strong computer skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and basic office equipment.
- Strong written/verbal communication, collaboration skills, and professional discretion and integrity.
- Excellent time management and organization; ability to multitask and meet strict deadlines.
- Consistent, punctual, and reliable attendance.
- Fluent bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
- Physical ability to access various ballpark areas for prolonged periods and lift/transport up to 25 pounds.
- Must successfully complete post-offer, pre-employment requirements, including a background check.
Conditions
- Full-time, exempt role reporting to the Director, Event Production & Video Engineering.
- Flexible schedule required, including weekends, evenings, Padres home games, special events, holidays, and extended hours as needed.
- On-site at Petco Park; work-from-home Fridays available during the off-season and when the team is on the road.
