Adjunct Faculty, Teaching and Learning

The Adjunct Faculty (Teaching and Learning) role supports and enhances the student learning experience through instruction, student support, and ongoing professional development under the guidance of the department chair. The position contributes to course quality, student satisfaction, and the broader academic community through service and scholarship.

• Teach and support students by facilitating a safe, productive online learning environment and interacting professionally.
• Respond promptly to student questions, discussion posts, and requests; proactively contact inactive students when needed.
• Review course functionality and content to ensure high-quality delivery and continuous course quality.
• Provide timely, policy-aligned feedback on assignments and monitor student progress.
• Synthesize and report student performance data in a timely manner.
• Support institutional and program policies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Promote ethical conduct (e.g., plagiarism and copyright compliance) and follow reporting procedures for infractions.
• Direct students to supplemental resources to strengthen individual skills and abilities.
• Collaborate with colleagues and leadership, including attending required meetings.
• Promote ACE’s vision, mission, culture, and Impact mission through service and civic engagement initiatives.
• Maintain current professional/technical knowledge of curriculum and industry trends through workshops, seminars, publications, networks, and professional societies.
• Support and promote research to ensure quality of program and course offerings.

• Earned terminal degree in a field associated with the department (e.g., ESL/BL, Early Childhood Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Literacy, Special Education).
• Minimum of 3 peer-reviewed professional publications and presentations (Doctoral Teaching & Learning).
• At least 1 year of teaching experience in a formal educational setting using traditional and non-traditional formats (higher education preferred).
• Demonstrated ability to build successful online/virtual professional relationships.
• Evidence of professional research and/or creative endeavors and subject-matter expertise.
• Strong communication, organization, and time management skills; high attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision and collaboratively with a team.
• Adaptability under pressure and ability to meet tight deadlines; self-motivated and solutions-oriented.
• Commitment to student satisfaction and anticipating student needs.
• Willingness to support and embrace ACE’s Impact mission and civic engagement initiatives.

• Remote/virtual-first work environment with required real-time communication using online/electronic media.
• Compensation is per student per course (not a fixed salary): generally $50/student for bachelor/master levels and $126/student for doctorate level; additional paid opportunities may include committees and course writing/development.
• Internet requirement: minimum 50 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload from remote location; employee is responsible for purchase, setup, and maintenance of reliable internet service.
• AI tools may be used, but if they account for more than 50% of work assignments/responsibilities, usage must be reported to a direct leader.
• Location eligibility restriction: candidates residing in Alaska, Washington D.C., Massachusetts, South Dakota, or Alabama are not considered.
