Summary
The Moseley Group is a food & beverage strategy and design firm headquartered near Boston, delivering guest-focused solutions for global brands. The Architectural Designer will translate brand, operational, and customer experience direction into buildable spatial concepts, BOH/FOH plans, and high-quality 3D visualizations. The role supports project teams by turning inputs from strategy, culinary, and operations into cohesive design outputs.
What you'll do
- Translate brand direction, mood boards, and strategic briefs into cohesive concepts grounded in customer experience (CX) principles.
- Interpret inputs from brand, culinary, operations, and project teams to inform BOH and FOH planning and layout decisions.
- Develop guest and operator flows (entry, ordering, seating, circulation, and support spaces) aligned with operational requirements and performance goals.
- Prepare clear design presentations that communicate layout logic, spatial intent, and design decisions to internal teams and clients.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure design aligns with project objectives.
- Produce BOH and FOH floorplans and schedules using AutoCAD.
- Build accurate 3D models and high-quality interior and exterior renderings using SketchUp.
- Translate approved design directions into coordinated layouts, elevations, and visual documentation.
- Develop FF&E schedules, finish intent, and supporting specifications in coordination with senior team direction.
- Support design documentation through schematic and design development phases, maintaining consistency and clarity of design intent.
- Coordinate with internal teams, suppliers, and contractors to maintain design intent through refinements and implementation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture, interior design, or a closely related field (required).
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in restaurant, hospitality, or food & beverage design (required).
- Portfolio demonstrating restaurant or hospitality projects from concept through completion (required).
- Experience working directly with clients in a consultancy or in-house environment (plus).
- SketchUp proficiency, including detailed 3D models and walk-through presentations.
- AutoCAD proficiency for precise BOH/FOH floorplans, elevations, and schedules.
- Adobe Creative Suite proficiency (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) for presentation and visual storytelling.
- Revit or other BIM platform experience (plus).
- Strong understanding of restaurant/foodservice operations and how design impacts efficiency, throughput, and labor models.
- High attention to detail and ability to connect design decisions to brand, operational, and spatial strategy.
- Strong organization and communication skills; ability to manage multiple workstreams and deadlines.
- Collaborative working style; ability to take direction and incorporate feedback.
Conditions
