Summary
Her Campus Media is a community-powered Gen Z media and marketing ecosystem with multiple Gen Z-focused media brands. The Social Video Editor (Part-time) will edit social-first, vertical video content for brands like Her Campus, Spoon University, and College Fashionista to create engaging, platform-optimized deliverables.
What you'll do
Edit social-first video content using mobile editing apps (e.g., CapCut, Prequel, Edits, Canva) from original and sourced footage.
Apply strong editorial judgment to identify key moments and craft punchy, snackable social cutdowns.
Make creative decisions on framing, cutaways, zooms, sound effects, captions, and on-screen text to improve storytelling.
Optimize edits for the intended platform and format.
When needed, route heavier/premium edits to Adobe Premiere Pro.
Set and maintain a video workflow from rough cut to final delivery, including archiving/organizing footage and tracking licensed content usage.
Maintain a production calendar in Asana and track deliverable status through publication.
Perform quality control to ensure high-quality deliverables for publication.
Monitor social trends and app updates and incorporate them into concepts when appropriate.
Identify opportunities to reuse and repurpose existing editorial video content.
Requirements
1+ years of short-form video editing experience.
Proficiency with mobile video editing tools (e.g., CapCut, Prequel, Edits, Canva).
Intermediate proficiency with Adobe Premiere Pro.
Basic knowledge of color correction, audio mixing, motion design, and multi-cam editing.
Strong understanding of what makes vertical/social video perform and ability to spot key moments aligned to trends.
Ability to work on tight deadlines and switch workflows based on priorities.
Collaborative, cross-functional mindset.
Experience in digital media and/or social media is a plus.
Portfolio or examples of prior social video work (link requested with application).
Must be eligible to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship.
Conditions
Part-time: 20 hours per week.
Schedule: 3–4 set shifts per week.
Remote role; must be located within the United States.
Pay range: $26–$29 per hour.
