Product, Platform & Enterprise Front End Sr/Staff Software Engineer

BNSF Railway is seeking a Senior/Staff Front End Software Engineer to bridge complex rail logistics into high-performing products. This role focuses on transforming customer experiences through innovative web and mobile applications that enhance efficiency across the railroad industry.

• Write production-quality code for well-defined tasks and maintain coding standards
• Lead design and development of software modules for core freight movement operations
• Design and operate cutting-edge front-end customer experiences infused with AI
• Develop APIs, automation, and tools to improve platform integration
• Build and maintain monitoring and alerting systems for services
• Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, and senior engineers on framework development
• Mentor junior engineers in front-end development best practices
• Participate in design reviews and incident retrospectives
• Write maintainable production-ready code in web services and front-end technologies
• Work with BNSF teams to create products that improve rail network operations

Basic Qualifications:

• Authorized to work in the US
• Minimum 6 years of software development or related experience
• Experience programming with modern languages such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
• Experience developing, testing and deploying high quality software in production systems
• Non-internship experience building web applications with Javascript, CSS, AJAX, React
• Experience in web applications design and development
• Experience collaborating with product managers, developers, and stakeholders
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with ability to learn new technologies quickly

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or related field
• Experience building AI applications and integrating AI into customer experiences
• Experience with React, Angular, Node.js, Spring Boot frameworks
• Engineering experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Experience with TypeScript, GraphQL, and modern rendering frameworks
• Experience developing and delivering highly reliable distributed systems
• Experience with secure coding practices
• Experience building and evolving UX design systems
• Familiarity with cross-platform frameworks like React Native and Flutter

Schedule & Location: Full-time remote position, employees may work from anywhere within the contiguous 48 states. Travel up to 20% required to Fort Worth, TX for in-person meetings, with expenses covered by BNSF.
