Senior Java Developer (desktop experience must)

Luxoft is seeking a Senior Java Developer to work on a cloud solution for interpretation of geological and geophysical data in the Oil & Gas domain. The role involves designing and developing high-performance enterprise applications using modern Java technologies, Eclipse RCP, and cloud computing within a stable, long-term SCRUM-based project.

• Collaborate with geophysicists, data scientists, and software engineers to translate domain requirements into robust on-premises or cloud software solutions
• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance applications for geophysical and geological data analysis, interpretation, and visualization
• Present architectural designs and technical proposals to the architecture review board
• Break down development tasks and create clear implementation roadmaps
• Implement and optimize computation algorithms
• Design and develop thin and thick client applications that interact with cloud-based microservices
• Ensure high code quality through unit testing, code reviews, security hardening, and continuous integration
• Provide technical support and lead user troubleshooting sessions
• Mentor junior developers and contribute to architectural and implementation decisions
• Deliver and demonstrate working solutions at the end of each sprint
• Stay current with emerging technologies in geophysical computing and software development

• 6+ years of hands-on Java development experience
• Strong Java Core knowledge
• Experience with desktop development frameworks: Swing, SWT, or Eclipse RCP
• Proven experience designing and building complex systems end-to-end
• Practical understanding of multithreaded programming and concurrency implementation
• Solid knowledge of design patterns and software architecture principles
• Ability to articulate past projects and individual contributions clearly
• Experience working in non-microservices, non-cloud-native development environments
• Stable career trajectory without fragmented job history
• English: B2 Upper Intermediate
• Nice-to-have: C++ development skills, Eclipse RCP experience, OSGi knowledge, Oil & Gas domain experience
