Social Video Editor (Part-time)
Summary
Her Campus Media is a Gen Z media and marketing ecosystem with multiple youth-focused brands and creator communities. The Social Video Editor (Part-time) will support the social media team by editing social-first, vertical short-form videos to drive engaging performance across platforms.
What you'll do
Create engaging social-first video edits using mobile editing tools from original HCM footage and sourced footage.
Apply strong editorial judgment to build narratives and select moments for punchy social cutdowns.
Make creative editing decisions (framing, cutaways, zooms, SFX, captions, on-screen text) to enhance storytelling.
Optimize deliverables for each platform’s requirements and best practices.
Redirect more premium/heavier edits to Adobe Premiere Pro when needed.
Establish and maintain an end-to-end video workflow, including archiving/organizing footage and tracking licensed content usage.
Maintain a video production calendar in Asana and track deliverable status through publication.
Perform quality control to ensure high-quality outputs before publication.
Monitor social trends and app updates and incorporate them into concepts where appropriate.
Identify opportunities to reuse and repurpose existing editorial video content.
Requirements
1+ years of short-form video editing experience.
Proficiency with mobile video editing tools (e.g., CapCut, Prequel, Edits, Canva).
Intermediate proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro.
Basic knowledge of color correction, audio mixing, motion design, and multi-cam editing.
Strong understanding of what makes vertical/social video perform and how to find key moments for trend-aligned edits.
Ability to work quickly, shift priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
Collaborative, cross-departmental mindset.
Digital media organization experience (plus).
Previous social media experience (plus).
Portfolio/link(s) to previous social video work required in application.
Must be authorized to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship.
Conditions
Part-time remote role (United States only).
Must be available for 3–4 set shifts per week totaling 20 hours/week.
Hourly pay range: $26–$29 per hour.
