Vice President, People
Summary
Amogy is a cleantech startup commercializing carbon-free energy solutions using ammonia to decarbonize hard-to-abate sectors such as maritime shipping and stationary power generation.
The Vice President, People will lead a scalable People strategy and serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and executive team, strengthening leadership depth, organizational design, and culture to support sustainable growth through commercialization.
What you'll do
Coach and advise the CEO and leadership team, facilitating executive development and improving leadership team dynamics and effectiveness.
Provide strategic oversight of talent acquisition aligned to the commercialization roadmap and long-term workforce plan; guide hiring priorities, processes, and outcomes.
Oversee performance management and talent development frameworks, including leadership capability building, career pathways, and coaching-based management practices.
Champion culture and employee experience by embedding core values into hiring and operations; drive engagement, retention, well-being, and feedback mechanisms.
Guide total rewards philosophy and compensation strategy to ensure competitive, equitable pay aligned with performance and business objectives.
Oversee employee relations and People support processes, handling matters with consistency and discretion and escalating sensitive issues appropriately.
Lead proactive HR compliance strategy across federal, state, and local employment laws; strengthen policies, practices, and controls to mitigate risk.
Develop and deliver people analytics and workforce insights (e.g., staffing, retention, attrition), translating data into strategic recommendations for leadership.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree.
12+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, including 5+ years in a strategic or executive-facing role.
Ability to navigate organizational nuances; strong cross-functional collaboration and communication across levels.
Experience building engineering, manufacturing, and/or sales teams, including active sourcing and pipeline strategy for ongoing hiring needs.
Solid working understanding of core HR tools, resources, organizational structure, and processes.
Proven ability to design, align, and implement organizational projects and initiatives.
Experience designing and structuring engineering organizations; familiarity with engineering job families, career paths, disciplines, and how engineering functions operate and evolve.
Experience leading and developing a high-functioning HR/People team in a commercialized organization (energy sector experience is a plus).
Experience managing HR functions across geographies, including international markets.
Demonstrated strategic delivery and ability to build trust with senior leaders, stakeholders, and employees; high integrity.
Rapid-growth early-stage organization experience is a strong plus.
