Full Stack Tech Lead (Frontend-Heavy)

Metamindz UK is seeking a Full Stack Tech Lead with frontend expertise to lead architectural decisions and deliver complex features across their platform. This hands-on leadership role combines daily coding with mentoring, technical direction, and cross-stack ownership in a high-growth fintech startup environment.

• Lead architecture and delivery of complex, full stack features across the platform
• Own frontend systems end-to-end while extending into backend (Node.js / NestJS) as needed
• Drive architectural decisions across both frontend and backend with focus on scalability, observability, and maintainability
• Set technical standards, conduct code reviews, and raise engineering team quality bar
• Collaborate with product and design teams to bridge technical decisions with business context
• Lead client-facing technical projects spanning diverse industries
• Mentor and support engineers on the team to grow their skills and ownership
• Contribute to open-source development aligned with Ballerine's principles
• Leverage AI and LLM tooling in engineering workflow from prototyping to product integration

• 8+ years of commercial engineering experience with clear evidence of technical leadership
• Expert-level knowledge of React and TypeScript
• Strong backend proficiency: Node.js, NestJS, PostgreSQL, REST APIs
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred) and container orchestration (Kubernetes)
• Familiarity with microservices architecture, distributed systems, and scalable backend design
• Strong understanding of state management patterns and architecture at scale
• Strong understanding of security practices, particularly in fintech or regulated environments
• Demonstrated ability to take full ownership of projects and drive them to completion independently
• Startup experience comfortable with ambiguity, fast iteration, and wearing multiple hats
• AI-native engineering mindset leveraging LLMs and AI tooling in everyday development
• Excellent English communication to articulate technical decisions to any audience
