Summary
HerculesAI (ZERO Systems) is seeking a Senior AI Engineer to operate at the intersection of applied research and engineering. You will build crucial AI capabilities, own their robust implementation, and directly impact the models served in their products and the user experience they deliver.
What you'll do
- Post-training, Distillation & Reinforcement Learning:
- Create training environments for high-quality synthetic data and reward signals
- Design model behaviors optimizing for interpretability and user experience
- Train agentic models for complex structured and unstructured environments
- Own benchmarking pipelines and measure training impact
- Engineering:
- Build production-ready code and own end-to-end data, training, and implementation processes
- Architect scalable inference strategies for compute efficiency
- Maintain reliable solutions for customers
- Collaborate on AI-product service intersections
- Mentor peers and elevate code quality standards
- Research & Tooling:
- Work with open-weights models and internal training frameworks
- Prototype and validate novel approaches
- Contribute to internal tooling for inference, training, orchestration, and data generation
Requirements
- Strong background in both machine learning and software engineering
- Experience with post-training large models (SFT, distillation, RL)
- Production-scale model deployment experience
- Proficiency with Docker and Kubernetes
- Contributions to open research or AI infrastructure
- Strong familiarity with latest AI research and open-source tooling
- Experience shipping complex software and owning production code
- Great communication skills and rapid problem understanding
- High agency and ability to propose and own solutions
- Nice to Have: Performance engineering for inference (vLLM, SGlang, llama.cpp), RL frameworks expertise, published models or research
