Senior Director, Corporate Development

Summary

Mount Sinai Health System is a leading academic health system across the New York City metropolitan area. The Senior Director, Corporate Development will lead end-to-end evaluation and execution of strategic growth opportunities (M&A, joint ventures, and partnerships) and support the Corporate Development & Strategic Partnerships mandate to grow revenue and margin. This role also mentors junior team members and represents the organization externally as needed.

What you'll do

  • Lead high-priority corporate development initiatives end-to-end (framing, evaluation, and execution) as assigned by leadership.
  • Interface with internal and external stakeholders to advance strategic opportunities.
  • Conduct analytics, opportunity assessments, and competitive analysis to support decision-making.
  • Develop business cases and transaction/partnership materials to bring opportunities to fruition.
  • Evaluate contracts and lead/support negotiations for deals and partnerships.
  • Manage internal and/or external resources to execute workstreams as needed.
  • Prepare executive-level communications and updates for governance bodies and decision-makers.
  • Mentor and coach junior team members; support hiring and talent development to build a high-performance culture.
  • Represent Mount Sinai externally (conferences, speaking events) to cultivate relationships and generate leads, as designated.
  • Support the VP on special projects as required.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s strongly preferred (MBA, MHA, MPH, or related).
  • Experience (preferred path): 4+ years post-graduate (or 6+ years pre-graduate) progressive experience in healthcare strategy/management consulting at Project Leader/Manager level, leading strategy, M&A, partnerships, and transformation projects for large, complex healthcare organizations or academic medical centers.
  • Alternative experience: Similar professional services background in Private Equity or Investment Banking is valued.
  • Non-consulting candidates: At least 9 years total work experience and at least 5 years progressive experience in M&A, partnerships, transformation, strategy/strategic planning, strategic investing, or related fields within large, complex healthcare organizations or academic medical centers.
  • Demonstrated success leading/executing transactions, partnerships, strategy design, opportunity assessments, and business case development in healthcare.
  • Exceptional analytical, financial, and problem-solving skills; data-driven decision making.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, interpersonal skills, and written/verbal communication; change management capability.
  • Exceptional presentation/storytelling skills using PowerPoint and Word.
  • Ability to influence at all levels and build trusted relationships with senior leaders and external partners.
  • Preferred: experience working in or with academic health systems.
  • Plus: New York metro market analysis experience.
  • Plus: advanced analytics experience using SQL, Python, and/or R.

Conditions

  • Reporting: Reports to the Vice President of Portfolio Strategy & Corporate Development.
  • Work arrangement: Primarily in-person at Mount Sinai’s Corporate Office with occasional visits to facilities/offices across the NYC metro area; periodic hybrid work may be accommodated as appropriate.
  • Compensation note: Posted annual salary range is $204,605–$306,907 (bonuses/incentives and other compensation/benefits not included in the posted range).
