Summary
Boys and Girls Clubs of San Leandro seeks a Youth Development Professional to create a safe, fun, and inclusive after-school environment for elementary school youth. In this part-time, on-site role, you'll support academic success and social-emotional development through engaging activities and mentorship while contributing to positive youth development.
What you'll do
Create safe and welcoming environments for youth supervision; facilitate engaging after-school activities promoting learning and creativity; deliver curriculum-based lessons adapted to elementary students' needs; establish clear expectations and behavior management strategies; build positive relationships through mentoring and recognition; manage daily operations including transitions, meals, and lessons; collaborate with team members; provide flexible support across different sites as needed.
Requirements
High school diploma plus one of: 48 college semester units (~2 years), Associate's degree or higher, or passing score on district Paraeducator/Paraprofessional Exam within 30 days. Required: ability to work in fast-paced dynamic environment; high emotional intelligence and integrity; authentic connection with children; extreme patience and composure under pressure. Preferred: multilingual skills (Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese, Tagalog); education/coursework/experience in Early Childhood Development or related fields.
Conditions
Part-time, on-site position at school-based site; $20-$25/hour; non-exempt status; reports to Program Manager; no direct reports. Entry-level role with hands-on training provided. Must demonstrate commitment to safety, accountability, problem-solving, cultural competency, leadership, teamwork, and adaptability.
