Film Production Finance Intern

Summary

A24 is a global entertainment company producing and distributing films, television, documentaries, music, publishing, and consumer products. The Film Production Finance Intern will support the Film Production Finance team by helping operate and maintain production finance systems and accounting workflows across projects. The purpose of the role is to assist with day-to-day production accounting and reporting processes while supporting audits and reconciliations.

What you'll do

  • Assist with set-up of project-specific systems (payroll, accounting, p-card, and other finance-related production infrastructure).
  • Handle accounts payable entry, including purchase order entry, obtaining approvals, validating backup documentation, setting up check runs, and maintaining files.
  • Support prep and post-production payroll, including timecard review, start paperwork, sending documents to the payroll company, reviewing payroll edits, paying payroll invoices, importing payroll to the production accounting system for cost reporting accuracy, and maintaining payroll files (including vacation/holiday pay bookings).
  • Reconcile petty cash/Cashet card activity and prepare related journal entries (including deposits and tax credit returns).
  • Perform bank account reconciliations and assist with trial balance clean-up.
  • Support cost reporting by preparing cost reports and tracking variances.
  • Assist with tax credit audits by pulling/copying/scanning files, preparing journals/research, and coordinating with auditors and state revenue departments.
  • Help settle outstanding receivables billed back to the studio.
  • Support ad-hoc corporate accounting projects (payables, receivables, expense reports, residuals/participations, delivery requirements, and reconciliations).

Requirements

  • 1–2 years of production accounting experience.

  • Experience with production accounting software, Movie Magic Budgeting, and Microsoft Excel.

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills across varied stakeholders.

  • Motivated and eager to manage day-to-day responsibilities, coordinate audits, and help resolve production budget questions.

  • Proactive attitude; willing to handle tasks of any size.

  • Humble, diligent, and resourceful.

Conditions

  • Part-time internship (up to 15 hours per week).

  • Remote role; open to candidates from any location in the United States.

  • Hourly rate: $18.00.
