CAD Detailer- Entry Level
Summary
InProduction (Seating Solutions) is a leading U.S. provider of temporary seating, staging, structures, and scenic production for major events. The CAD Detailer (Entry Level) creates accurate 2D drawings and basic 3D models from a parts library to support sales, customers, officials, and field technicians. The role supports project teams by converting sketches and notes into consistent drafting packages for fabrication and installation.
What you'll do
- Draft clear, accurate 2D drawings using VectorWorks, AutoCAD, and SketchUp for standard scenic flats, steps, decks and deck plugs, pipe-and-base layouts, drape line plots, and basic stage layout plans.
- Support Project Managers and Production Designers by converting sketches, notes, or existing drawings into usable drafting packages.
- Create basic 3D models of simple scenic elements from 2D drawings using SketchUp, VectorWorks, or AutoCAD.
- Apply company drafting standards and templates to maintain consistency across projects.
- Assist in preparing drawing sets for fabrication and onsite installation.
- Coordinate with fabrication teams to ensure accuracy and clarity of construction drawings.
- Update drawings based on redlines and field feedback.
- Participate in internal production meetings and occasional site visits for drawing verification.
- Organize and maintain digital project files, version tracking, and drawing logs.
Requirements
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree, technical certificate, or formal CAD training preferred.
Experience: Internship or experience in live events, scenic fabrication, or theatrical production is a plus.
Technical skills: Proficiency in 2D drafting with VectorWorks and AutoCAD; familiarity with SketchUp; basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and file sharing systems.
Domain knowledge: Understanding of standard scenic construction components and stage layouts; ability to interpret shop standards and incorporate them into drawing packages.
Soft skills: Attention to detail; ability to follow written/verbal instructions; organizational skills for managing multiple projects and versions; comfortable collaborating with changing priorities.
Compliance: Must pass a background check and drug screening.
Preferred (bonus): Familiarity with Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop.
