Creative Director (remote US)
Summary
HarperCollins Publishers is seeking a Creative Director to lead day-to-day operations of the Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) creative team and execute creative across US DTC marketing channels. The role partners closely with Brand, Platform, and Publishing teams to deliver consistent, high-performing visual communications that support and grow DTC businesses.
What you'll do
- Lead the creative function for DTC brands and channels as both an individual contributor and manager of internal/external resources.
- Maintain high creative standards and ensure consistency in brand look, feel, and experience; provide quality control over concepts and execution.
- Assign work to appropriate resources based on project needs; provide direction and constructive feedback while meeting partner requirements.
- Create, execute, and continuously evolve brand guidelines.
- Identify opportunities to improve creative output and processes; recommend ways to develop the team to meet future demands.
- Balance creative vision with business objectives and priorities.
- Collaborate with Brand and Platform teams to develop and interpret a clear creative vision.
- Attend meetings, manage cross-team interactions, pitch concepts, and monitor/communicate project progress.
- Stay current on innovations and industry trends.
- Train and support team members in developing technical skills; contribute to organizational learning and process improvement.
- Coach and guide team members on career development, growth, and performance.
Requirements
Portfolio demonstrating performance-driven digital and e-commerce creative (required).
8+ years of experience in graphic design and/or interactive design, including 3+ years focused on e-commerce and/or performance marketing design.
3+ years of experience managing internal and external resources to meet quality, budget, and timeline requirements.
Expertise with Adobe and Canva creative tool suites (or similar).
Expertise with and enthusiasm for using AI creative tools (e.g., Sora, Nano Banana) for concepting and design refinement.
Ability to influence stakeholders and align creative strategy with business goals.
Understanding of best practices for performance-focused digital marketing creative and DTC design performance metrics (e.g., CTR, CVR, ROAS).
Knowledge of UI/UX best practices and industry trends.
Empathy for end consumers; ability to create and evaluate design and copy.
Solutions-oriented, collaborative approach.
