Business Affairs Assistant
Summary
NEON is hiring a Business Affairs Assistant to support its Business Affairs department in either New York or Los Angeles. This entry-level role focuses on contract administration, payments, and cross-team coordination to help ensure smooth legal and operational workflows.
What you'll do
- Manage contract administration including signature collection, agreement tracking, and maintaining internal file systems.
- Oversee project-related payment workflows across acquisitions, development, and production, including processing WGA fringes and ensuring timely payouts.
- Review and submit Business Affairs invoices and coordinate with Finance for payment and reconciliation.
- Track merchandising rights, approvals, and pre-negotiated talent royalties tied to merchandise initiatives.
- Maintain and circulate internal Business Affairs tracking documents for visibility and alignment.
- Handle corporate governance tasks such as entity formation, obtaining federal tax ID numbers for subsidiaries, and drafting internal operating agreements.
- Support international tax compliance by coordinating documentation for cross-border deals with consultants.
- Manage copyright and UCC filings, lien searches, and title report requests.
- Serve as primary administrative lead for Business Affairs, including scheduling and calendar management for the President of Business & Legal Affairs.
- Manage expense reporting for the President of Business & Legal Affairs.
- Supervise Business Affairs interns and guide work such as quarterly credit facility reporting, data entry, and trailer music license review.
- Potentially expand into drafting and reviewing music licenses, clip licenses, influencer agreements, venue rental agreements, and related agreements.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Film Studies, Law, or related field (preferred).
Open to recent graduates and entry-level candidates with up to 1 year of relevant experience.
Exposure to business affairs, legal, or administrative work is a plus (including internships/externships).
Strong interest in legal and business affairs within the entertainment industry.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
Strong work ethic, problem-solving skills, and proactive, detail-oriented organization.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
Conditions
Hybrid schedule with in-office presence a minimum of 3 days per week.
