Founding Designer
Summary
Finch is building infrastructure to make justice more accessible by automating consumer-law operations, starting with personal injury, and powering pre-litigation workflows for top law firms. The Founding Designer will be the first design hire, owning product, brand, and emerging AI experiences to make complex legal processes feel clear, trustworthy, and human.
What you'll do
Own design across Finch’s surface area including product UX/UI, brand, and AI-adjacent experiences.
Build internal case management tools to increase speed and capability for the legal operations team.
Design law firm-facing portals that provide partners visibility and control over their cases.
Shape client experiences that make a complicated legal process clear and navigable.
Define Finch’s public presence including brand, marketing site, and visual identity.
Establish and evolve an initial design system to create a shared quality bar across product, design, and engineering.
Requirements
4+ years as a founding or sole designer, or 7+ years in a senior/lead design role with broad ownership.
Portfolio demonstrating strong product design, systems thinking, and visual craft, ideally across complex workflows.
Proven ability to operate in 0→1 environments where briefs are often incomplete.
Ability to work across product, brand, and visual design without a dedicated team.
Nice to have: experience with operations-heavy or workflow-driven B2B products.
Nice to have: familiarity with AI surface design where trust, clarity, and error states matter.
Nice to have: experience building or contributing to a design system from the ground up.
Conditions
Compensation: base salary plus equity; base range $160,000–$225,000 per year.
