Summary
Quilt is a venture-backed technology company building high-efficiency heat pump HVAC systems enhanced with modern AI to move homes off fossil-fuel heating. The Vice President of Operations is a new, critical leadership role responsible for building the operational engine to manufacture and deliver Quilt hardware reliably and efficiently as the company scales across North America.
What you'll do
- Own upstream component sourcing and procurement strategy, including supplier selection, cost negotiations, component quality, and supply continuity planning.
- Manage vendor relationships and contract manufacturing partners; collaborate with Hardware Engineering to manage BOMs, qualify suppliers, and scale production volume.
- Oversee manufacturing operations including production execution, quality systems, inventory management, and capacity planning.
- Drive continuous improvement across yield, cost, and cycle time; set manufacturing strategy and manage CM relationships.
- Lead domestic logistics end-to-end: 3PL warehousing, freight forwarding, last-mile delivery, and reverse logistics.
- Build and run parts, warranty returns, and returns processing programs; establish processes, systems, and vendor partnerships to improve reliability and cost efficiency.
- Hire and lead teams and stand up operational infrastructure in a fast-moving startup environment.
- Partner cross-functionally with Hardware Engineering, Finance, and Go-to-Market to balance quality, unit economics, and channel commitments.
- Travel to supervise manufacturing (primarily Asia) and logistics operations across North America.
Requirements
- 15+ years of experience in operations, supply chain, manufacturing, or related functions.
- At least 3–5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Direct experience at a growth-stage hardware or physical product company.
- Strong preference for experience managing logistics across a multi-state or national footprint, including 3PL relationships, freight, warehousing, and reverse logistics.
- Builder mindset with experience standing up new functions, hiring teams, implementing systems, and operating effectively amid ambiguity.
- Rigorous, process-oriented, and data-driven approach without excessive bureaucracy.
- Hands-on leadership style, able to operate tactically and strategically.
- Willingness to travel regularly to manufacturing and logistics sites.
- Ability to lead effectively across functions and align competing priorities.
- Industry experience in HVAC, home energy, building systems, solar, or related fields is a plus but not required.
- Experience in a venture-backed startup environment where you built functions from early stages.
Conditions
- Base salary range: $240,000–$270,000 annually (converted to approximately $20,000–$22,500 monthly).
- Meaningful equity commensurate with a senior leadership role.
- Benefits offered at a Series B stage.
- Regular travel required; manufacturing supply chain primarily in Asia and logistics operations across North America.
