Junior Java/Kotlin Software Engineer

orthoeye.digital is seeking a Junior Java/Kotlin Software Engineer to join their modern microservices-based project. The role involves building robust, production-ready applications using Spring Boot, Kafka, PostgreSQL, Docker, and Kubernetes while adopting AI-driven development practices.

• Take accountability for feature development and timely delivery
• Code, deploy, and test new features of the product
• Participate in requirements analysis, estimation, and planning
• Write clean, scalable, and testable code
• Review pull requests and collaborate with team members
• Analyze legacy code and apply refactoring techniques
• Develop products adopting best practices
• Cooperate with team and stakeholders

• Practical experience from pet projects, hackathons, or open-source contributions
• Confident with Java and comfortable with Ktor and Spring Boot
• Understanding of MVC architecture and RESTful API development
• Basic knowledge of PostgreSQL and ORM tools like JOOQ
• Understanding of OOP, OOD, and SOLID principles
• Experience writing unit tests using JUnit or Mockito
• Ability to work with Docker for containerization
• Plus: AI platform familiarity (Cursor, Claude Code, Codex), Kafka and event-driven systems, Microservices Architecture, TestContainers and WireMock
