Summary

Peak Behavioral Health is hiring a Behavioral Health Associate I to support inpatient behavioral health treatment as part of a multidisciplinary team in Santa Teresa, New Mexico. The role works under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse to monitor and report patient behaviors, provide continuous care and supervision, and respond to crisis situations and medical emergencies.

What you'll do

  • Provide a safe, positive, supportive, and structured environment while maintaining constant patient awareness and supervision under the direction of a charge nurse or supervisor.

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living (toileting, bathing, dressing, grooming, oral hygiene, meals/snacks, hydration, and changing bed linens).

  • Conduct safety checks at required intervals based on individualized supervision guidelines.

  • Check for contraband and manage patient valuables and belongings.

  • Interact routinely with patients, observe behaviors, and communicate significant observations to nursing staff.

  • Engage patients in activities designed to support achievement of treatment goals.

  • Facilitate educational-rehabilitative groups (e.g., social skills, coping skills, anger management, independent living skills).

  • Take and record vital signs and report significant changes in condition to the charge nurse.

  • Chart in patient records in a timely, accurate, and appropriate manner.

  • Apply de-escalation techniques and assist with seclusion and restraints when necessary.

  • Support unit operations (cleaning, organizing new admit charts, discharge process, filing) and initiate patient/employee incident reports.

  • Provide or coordinate patient transfer/transportation as required.

  • Provide verbal shift report/briefing to the oncoming shift.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Six months or more experience working with the facility’s specific population preferred.
