Python Developer - Medical Imaging

Remote Middle $2.5k–$8.4k/moest.

Summary

Amplifier AI is building a next-generation surgical planning platform powered by an internal imaging, segmentation, and 3D measurement engine. We are seeking a Python Developer to join our focused team of engineers, radiologists, and data scientists to develop core Python engine features that power 3D reconstruction and measurement logic for CT-based workflows. Your work will directly influence clinical decisions and patient outcomes in real hospital environments.

What you'll do

  • Develop and maintain Python engine for 3D reconstruction and measurement logic using SimpleITK and VTK
  • Handle DICOM series reading, validation of RAS origins and directions, and safe resampling while maintaining voxel-physical transforms
  • Build surface generation from labels and implement distance, intersection, and clipping algorithms
  • Create robust procedural tools for radiologists including measurement and QA logic
  • Debug and handle edge cases in real hospital data with performance tuning and structured logging
  • Own features end-to-end from problem understanding to validation on real clinical data
  • Ensure pipeline reliability and robustness across messy real-world datasets

Requirements

  • Write clean, modular, typed Python code with strong understanding of 3D medical image fundamentals
  • Understand origin, spacing, and direction concepts; know the difference between voxel space and physical space
  • Enjoy debugging complex geometric edge cases and explaining reasoning clearly
  • Experience with SimpleITK, VTK, or PyTorch is a strong plus
  • Ability to dive deep and learn independently if lacking prior experience with required tools
  • Nice to have: VTK surface/volume rendering experience, ML segmentation metrics knowledge (Dice, Hausdorff, nnU-Net), GPU acceleration and large-volume performance interest
  • Provide GitHub portfolio or code samples demonstrating real coding ability

Conditions

  • Fully remote with EU time overlap required
  • Communication in English or Ukrainian
  • Competitive salary with optional stock options
  • Clear path toward senior-level ownership and technical lead responsibilities
  • Small team environment with thoughtful discussions and deep technical code reviews
  • Emphasis on precision, reproducibility, and production-grade quality standards
  • Fast-paced environment with engineering discipline where hospital needs and clinical data may adjust priorities
