HR Operations Generalist

The HR Operations Generalist supports the operational execution of the HR function by ensuring accurate, compliant administration of payroll preparation, benefits, employee lifecycle coordination, and HR documentation. The role emphasizes precision and collaboration with HR leadership, Finance, and Service Delivery teams.

What you'll do

  • Coordinate onboarding documentation, background checks, I-9 verification, and HR system setup.
  • Process employee status changes, compensation adjustments, and documentation updates; manage offboarding workflows and maintain audit-ready personnel records.
  • Prepare and validate payroll data in the HRIS (compensation changes, time-off tracking, deductions, employment updates) and submit accurate data to Finance for final processing.
  • Track leave balances and maintain documentation for wage/hour compliance; support payroll reporting and audit documentation.
  • Coordinate benefits enrollments, changes, eligibility tracking, and open enrollment documentation; maintain benefit election records and qualifying life events.
  • Serve as first-line contact for employee benefits administration questions.
  • Maintain HRIS data integrity, execute standardized HR workflows, and uphold documentation standards across employment actions.
  • Support reporting for workforce planning, compensation tracking, and compliance reviews; assist with process improvement initiatives.
  • Support adherence to federal and state employment regulations; maintain documentation for audits and governance reviews; escalate compliance risks and assist with investigation/compliance review materials.

Requirements

  • 3–6+ years of HR experience with exposure to HR Operations or Generalist responsibilities.
  • Experience supporting payroll data preparation and benefits administration.
  • Working knowledge of employment law fundamentals and compliance practices.
  • Experience maintaining HRIS data accuracy and required documentation standards.
  • Experience in a professional services or consulting environment preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • SHRM-CP or similar certification preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, process discipline, and high accuracy in data handling and documentation.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with Finance and operational leadership.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
