Event Planner
Summary
The San Diego Padres are hiring a full-time, non-exempt Event Planner within Special Events to plan and execute events across Petco Park, The Rady Shell, and EVE year-round. The role focuses on end-to-end event production, client/vendor management, and driving event revenue while delivering high-quality experiences in unique, nontraditional spaces.
What you'll do
Plan, coordinate, and execute events from concept through completion, including schematics, enhancements, staffing requests, billing, invoicing, and reconciliation.
Create event timelines, agendas, run-of-show documents, and production schedules.
Lead event-day coordination across venues, managing staff, load-in, vendors, catering, and production.
Conduct site visits with prospective clients and vendors as needed.
Drive event revenue to meet departmental financial goals.
Manage budgets, track expenses, and negotiate contracts to maintain budget.
Prepare timely event proposals, including proposals and mood boards for clients.
Source and manage vendors, securing accurate and detailed cost estimates.
Stay current on event styles and trends.
Represent the Club professionally and complete other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and ability to learn new software.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; collaborative working style.
Exceptional time management and organizational skills; ability to multitask and meet strict deadlines.
Professional demeanor with discretion, integrity, and accountability; consistent punctual attendance.
Must be at least 18 years old by start of employment.
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent education) in Hospitality and Tourism, Event Industry, Marketing, or closely related field.
Minimum 2 years of experience in Sales, Hospitality, Event Planning, Event Management, or similar.
Valid driver’s license with good driving record; ability to travel as needed.
Physical capability to access various ballpark areas for prolonged periods and lift/transport up to 50 pounds.
Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
Conditions
Full-time, non-exempt.
Flexible schedule required, including evenings, weekends, holidays, Padres home/road games, special events, and extended hours as needed.
Work-from-home Fridays during the off-season and when the team is on the road.
Compensation: base hourly range $29.81 to $32.69, with eligibility for a compensation plan if goals are achieved.
Pre-employment requirements include background check and drug screen.
