Category Manager
Summary
Jobgether is hiring a Category Manager on behalf of a partner company in the United States. The role leads raw materials category strategy and sourcing to optimize cost, risk, and service across multiple manufacturing locations. You will drive supplier performance, negotiate contracts, and partner cross-functionally to ensure security of supply and operational efficiency.
What you'll do
- Develop and execute raw materials category strategies to optimize cost, risk, and service quality.
- Negotiate contracts and manage supplier relationships in line with procurement policies and governance standards.
- Monitor global commodity markets, trade dynamics, and cost drivers to identify risks and opportunities.
- Partner with Operations, R&D, Supply Chain, and Finance to align category plans with production needs, budgets, and product development.
- Lead improvement and productivity projects focused on cost reduction, sustainability, and process streamlining.
- Implement supplier performance management programs (e.g., scorecards and continuous improvement initiatives).
- Use spend analytics to generate actionable insights and support corporate procurement KPIs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Transportation, Business, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in procurement or category management (preferably in chemical or manufacturing environments).
- Expertise with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Strong analytical ability to collect, interpret, and present complex data.
- Proven experience in contract negotiation, supplier performance management, and executing category strategies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
- Lean, Six Sigma, or similar process improvement methodology familiarity (preferred).
- Strategic and business-oriented mindset with a record of measurable cost savings and/or operational improvements.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel nationally and internationally up to 15%.
Conditions
Compensation: Competitive base salary of $125,000–$140,000 USD plus bonus opportunities.
