People Operations Generalist

Summary

Nava Benefits is a fast-growing, remote-first benefits brokerage using proprietary technology to modernize and improve employer-sponsored healthcare in the U.S. The People Operations Generalist will run day-to-day people operations and help build scalable, compliant, people-first programs as the company grows. This role partners closely with People Ops leadership, Finance, and external vendors to support an excellent employee experience.

What you'll do

  • Own end-to-end new hire onboarding and orientation.
  • Coordinate technology provisioning and system setup for new hires.
  • Conduct 30/60/90-day new hire check-ins.
  • Manage offboarding logistics including equipment return, systems access, and final pay coordination.
  • Conduct exit interviews and summarize trends and feedback.
  • Support learning and development programs.
  • Assist with performance review cycles and ongoing feedback processes.
  • Administer employee engagement surveys and analyze results.
  • Support DEI initiatives including surveys and goal tracking.
  • Coordinate monthly team events and support company-wide event planning and execution.
  • Administer and track STD, FMLA, and related leave invoices.
  • Support 401(k) management and payroll administration.
  • Manage workers’ compensation administration.
  • Coordinate annual and ongoing benefits enrollment.
  • Maintain PTO policy administration and support annual calendar planning.
  • Use AI tools to streamline administrative work, documentation, reporting, and employee communications.

Requirements

  • 1–4 years of experience in People Operations.
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, and follow-through.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
  • Clear, empathetic communication skills with a people-first mindset.
  • Ability to design and improve efficient, effective processes.
  • Experience with HRIS, payroll, and benefits platforms.
  • Ability to balance operational execution with a positive employee experience.
  • Experience leveraging AI tools to streamline work.
  • Nice to have:

    • Working knowledge of HR compliance, benefits administration, and payroll processes.
    • Experience in a high-growth startup or small-to-mid-sized company.
    • Familiarity with multi-state employment laws.
    • Experience with Rippling.

Conditions

  • Remote role; must be U.S.-based.
  • Reports to the Sr. Director of People Operations.
  • Flexible PTO.
  • 12 weeks paid parental leave plus 2 weeks transition time.
