Summary
Innovation Systems is seeking a detail-oriented Financial Manager to own the complete financial story of the company. The role combines day-to-day bookkeeping with strategic financial planning and cash-flow management. This high-impact position offers significant autonomy and influence over business decisions in a growing organization.
What you'll do
Core Accounting, Reporting & Financial Management
- Full-cycle bookkeeping (AP, AR, bank reconciliations)
- Monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements preparation
- Monitoring cash flow and preparing cash flow forecasts
- Budgeting and variance analysis
- Monitoring gross margin and identifying cost-optimization opportunities
- Ensuring financial data is properly categorized, documented, and audit-ready
- Managing HST filings and CRA compliance
Financial Planning & Strategic Support
- Building and maintaining clear financial structures for internal reporting
- Providing regular financial insights and performance summaries to leadership
- Identifying liquidity risks and proposing corrective actions
- Communicating with clients on billing and financial matters
- Preparing financial summaries and recommendations for management
Operational Accounting & Process Management
- Payroll bookings and reconciliation
- Managing fixed assets depreciation
- Tracking equipment expenses and maintenance costs
- Assisting with year-end preparation and external CPA coordination
- Improving financial processes and internal controls
- Implementing and optimizing accounting software
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in accounting, financial management, or FP&A
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online or similar accounting software
- Advanced Excel skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Experience working in small-to-mid-size growing businesses
- Experience working with international teams or multi-currency environments
- Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Additional Requirements
- Experience managing accounts receivable and accounts payable processes
- Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling
- Ability to manage company finances end-to-end in small or mid-size business
- Experience building or improving financial processes and reporting structures
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Upper-Intermediate English or higher, including written client communication
- Knowledge of Canadian tax regulations (HST, payroll, CRA compliance)
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
