Principal ML/AI Engineer

GigaCloud is seeking a Principal ML/AI Engineer to develop and deploy advanced machine learning solutions using modern Transformer and Large Language Models. The role involves selecting, fine-tuning, and deploying LLM models for company-specific tasks while building robust MLOps infrastructure.

• Select and configure modern Transformer/LLM models for company-specific tasks
• Perform fine-tuning, LoRA tuning, model distillation, and quantization
• Prepare and process datasets including augmentation techniques
• Deploy models to production and automate ML pipelines (data → training → inference)
• Monitor model performance in production, handle retraining and optimization
• Collaborate with Data Engineers and DevOps to build MLOps infrastructure
• Evaluate model performance using various metrics and analyze results for improvements

• Experience with Transformer models: BERT, RoBERTa, GPT, T5, LLaMA, Mistral, Falcon, etc.
• Strong Python knowledge with PyTorch, TensorFlow, and Hugging Face Transformers
• Understanding of modern LLM architectures and fine-tuning techniques: LoRA, PEFT, Instruction Tuning, RAG
• Experience with NLP tasks: classification, text generation, machine translation, QA systems
• Familiarity with evaluation metrics: accuracy, F1, BLEU, perplexity, ROUGE
• Basic statistics and classical machine learning knowledge
• Experience with MLflow, DVC, or similar tools
• Model containerization with Docker
• Understanding of CI/CD principles in ML projects
• Model deployment skills using FastAPI, Flask, TorchServe, or Triton
• Experience with cloud infrastructure: AWS, GCP, Azure, or local cloud providers
• Bonus: Kubernetes, Airflow, Kubeflow, Ray experience
