Summary
Lendbuzz develops innovative technologies to expand fair and personalized access to credit for underserved borrowers. The Payroll & Benefits Specialist will process bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll for 400+ employees and support administration of company benefits programs. This role supports the HR team by ensuring accurate payroll execution, compliance, and high-quality employee support.
What you'll do
- Process bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll for 400+ full-time employees accurately and in compliance with applicable laws and policies
- Handle manual checks and off-cycle payrolls as needed
- Manage state and local tax registrations, notices, and updates
- Administer payroll updates including state tax changes, garnishments, and 401(k) contributions
- Verify and reconcile payrolls; review reports for accuracy and identify anomalies
- Verify accuracy of hourly timecards and ensure proper data import for payroll processing
- Prepare and provide payroll information for annual audits
- Maintain current employee files and payroll records; process payroll changes and resolve discrepancies
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll and taxation regulations
- Manage monthly state disability reporting and stay updated on state disability plans
- Support disability and PFML claims processing and monitor claim status
- Support benefits plan administration (health insurance, STD, LTD, retirement plans, and additional benefits)
- Assist with annual open enrollment planning, audit reports, and testing
- Answer employee benefits and enrollment questions and resolve related issues
- Update required state posters to ensure compliance
- Support onboarding and offboarding, including updates to HRIS and other systems
- Maintain and update employee records in HRIS across the employee lifecycle (onboarding, status changes, terminations)
- Provide administrative support to the HR team through spreadsheets and report preparation
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on payroll processing experience
- Proficiency in Paylocity and familiarity with additional payroll platforms
- Extensive benefits administration experience (health insurance, retirement, disability) with strong compliance and auditing track record
- In-depth knowledge and practical application of federal and state payroll laws, tax regulations, and benefits compliance
- Proficiency with Mac, G Suite, and Microsoft Office
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, strong customer service orientation, and excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Sound judgment, problem-solving skills, and discretion when handling sensitive or complex tasks independently
- Ability to interpret and communicate complex instructions, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and build relationships with diverse professionals
