Summary

Porter and Chester Institute, a long-standing trade school with campuses in Connecticut and Massachusetts, is hiring a Registrar to support student success through accurate and compliant academic records management. The role oversees records integrity, academic operations, and SIS processes to ensure smooth enrollment-to-graduation experiences for students and faculty.

What you'll do

  • Maintain confidentiality, accuracy, and security of student academic records in compliance with FERPA, Title IV, and accreditor requirements.
  • Process and certify enrollment, re-enrollment, program changes, status changes (LOA, probation, SAP, withdrawals), and graduation/credential conferrals.
  • Conduct internal audits of student records and ensure compliance with retention and purging schedules.
  • Oversee timely processing of transcripts, enrollment verifications, and student record requests.
  • Manage course schedules, start rosters, academic calendars, and classroom assignments in coordination with Education leadership.
  • Provide accurate student information for rosters, advising, and academic progress monitoring.
  • Oversee SIS data entry, accuracy, and reporting.
  • Maintain workflows across Admissions, Financial Aid, Career Services, Finance, and Academics to ensure data integrity.
  • Evaluate and update forms, processes, and systems to streamline compliance and improve efficiency.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 1–3 years of related work experience in higher education.
  • Strong knowledge of FERPA, Title IV, and accreditor standards related to student records.
  • Proficiency with Student Information Systems (SIS) and related reporting tools.
  • Ability to prepare, analyze, and maintain detailed records and reports with accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.
  • Strong oral, written, organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Preferred:

    • Post-secondary education.
    • Experience in post-secondary or career-focused education.
    • Experience supporting audits or accreditation processes.

  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm.
