HR Assistant
Summary
The Kings County District Attorney’s Office (KCDA), part of the City of New York, is seeking an HR Assistant within its Employee Services Bureau’s Human Resources Unit. This role supports day-to-day HR operations and administrative functions that help maintain an effective, compliant, and service-oriented workplace.
What you'll do
Provide administrative support to the Chief and Deputy Director of Employee Services/Human Resources.
Assist HR staff with administrative tasks related to benefits, onboarding, performance management, and recruitment, including filing and maintaining HR spreadsheets.
Support HR activities such as e-Performance assistance, training coordination support, employee verifications, affidavits, employment letters, and related filing.
Answer and direct phone calls, take messages, and respond to general inquiries with professional telephone coverage.
Perform receptionist duties including greeting employees and visitors and providing assistance as needed.
Manage unit scheduling, including scheduling candidates for interview panels; maintain and update employee leave and vacation schedules.
Assist with HR special projects including preparing and compiling information for job fairs, benefits packages, and other HR paperwork.
Facilitate replacement of lost or damaged employee/intern identification.
Ensure unit machinery is functioning efficiently and submit repair tickets when needed.
Perform other HR-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Preferred: Associate degree plus at least two (2) years of professional experience including customer service and administrative duties.
Preferred: Strong technology skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and similar applications.
Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and strong work ethic.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Professional demeanor, positive attitude, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Minimum qualifications (Community Assistant - 56056): No formal education or experience required; must be able to understand and carry out simple instructions.
Must be able to understand and be understood in English.
Conditions

Residency requirement: New York City residency generally required within 90 days of appointment (some exceptions for eligible City employees).
Internal transfer note: Current KCDA employees must have served at least one (1) year in their current position and be in good standing to be eligible for transfer.
