Character Designer - Disney Television Animation

Disney Television Animation (The Walt Disney Company) is hiring a Character Designer to develop the look, personality, and feel of characters for kids and family content across multiple animation styles. The role supports episodic production by delivering clean, final approved character designs that match the show’s established style and storytelling needs.

• Create character turnarounds, special poses, mouth charts, and expression sheets, delivering a clean pass of final approved designs.
• Work with the Art Director to review storyboards and identify characters that need to be designed for each episode.
• Maintain the show’s established quality and style as set by the Executive Producer and Art Director.
• Prepare and package character designs for shipment to overseas vendor animation studios.
• Partner with the Art Director to resolve design issues while meeting deadlines.
• Follow the production schedule provided by the Line Producer to support timely, cost-effective production.

• Ability to design and create a variety of characters, including turnarounds, mouth charts, expression sheets, and special poses.
• Ability to align with the style and sensibility of a show.
• Ability to translate reference into 2D or 3D art.
• Knowledge of drawing software including Photoshop and Illustrator; familiarity with 3D technology where applicable.
• Positive attitude with flexibility.
• Excellent organizational, verbal, written, and e-social communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.

• Fully on-site role.
• Location: Glendale, California.
• Compensation stated as an hourly rate under a Collective Bargaining Agreement pay scale.
