Part-Time Design Assistant (Experienced - Not Entry Level)

QI Collective’s brand Auteur Studio is hiring an experienced part-time Design Assistant to support women’s wear design and product development from concept through sampling and launch readiness. The role focuses on translating creative direction into production-ready deliverables through tech packs, fittings support, print/detail tracking, and content readiness.

• Support seasonal and in-season range planning (capsule/SKU support, category balancing, hero vs. support pieces).
• Maintain organized style trackers (style status, fabric allocation, print placement, approvals).
• Organize and allocate fabric kits across the collection (swatch tracking, comments, updates).
• Build and update tech packs including flats, measurements, construction callouts, BOMs, and trim placement.
• Maintain version control so all teams use the latest documentation.
• Translate fitting outcomes into clear updates for vendors/factories and internal trackers.
• Attend fittings as needed; prep samples/reference images, take notes, distribute recaps, and update tech packs/trackers.
• Track fit revisions across proto to SMS to final approvals.
• Coordinate print development workflows (placement files, strike-offs, comments, approval status).
• Track detail development (special trims, embellishment, novelty construction) and keep records organized.
• Support launch readiness: style sheets, key details, reference images, and line sheet support.
• Assist with photo prep: sample readiness, shot-list notes, and detail callouts.
• Help organize product assets for e-commerce workflows (product naming, fabric descriptions, feature callouts).
• Support process consistency via templates, trackers, handoff documents, and improved systems/tools.

• 1–3+ years of experience in design assistant and/or product development support (women’s wear preferred).
• Strong understanding of garment construction and the apparel development workflow.
• Ability to create and update tech packs while managing multiple styles simultaneously.
• Proficiency in Google Sheets and/or Excel; Adobe Illustrator preferred (or similar flats tool).
• Clear communication skills, strong follow-through, and comfort with fast feedback loops.
• Detail-oriented with good taste and respect for design intent.
• Traits: highly organized, calm and fast with updates, self-starting, strong production mindset while remaining design-sensitive, able to switch between creative tasks and admin precision.

• Part-time schedule: approximately 10–15 hours per week; flexible; potential to grow.
• Hybrid role with on-site fittings as needed.
• Location: Los Angeles, California.
• Reports to Design Director and Lead Fit Technician; works closely with Product Development, Production, Merchandising/E-commerce, Photo team, and external vendors/factories.
